The Governor Yahaya Bello led administration in Kogi state is one of the most criticized government because of two reasons; firstly, the Governor attempted to take the bull by the horn and combat the monster of corruption ravaging the state civil service that many administrations before the incumbent avoided as a result of the fear of losing elections and secondly because of the half truth -half lies that the people were given to understand about the state.
A closer look into the new direction government activities revealed some worthy accomplishments the naysayers are not telling the world.
It is worthy to note that tremendous growths has been recorded across all sectors in the last four years of new direction government and as such deserved some commendation instead of spurious lies initiated by naysayers to demarket the state.
I am alarmed at the rate Kogi people are gradually embracing the habit of fabrication and projection of fictitious lies. We have embraced the habit of fabricating unfounded bad narration to suit our mindset. This is a bad norm that we must jettison as a presumed progressive people with immediate alacrity.
The recent lies that Governor Bello was poisoned, orchestrated by children of perfidy and peddled by agents of ‘see-no-good’, is not only laughable but I find it as an act of callousness.
But above all these odds, the state civil service has been sanitized and ghost workers reduced to the barest minimal level, the security engagement has also been strengthened, the agricultural sector has recorded a commendable level of upgrade, several health policies were initiated to improve the health sector and the people of Kogi state has reaffirm their trust on the new direction government by re-electing Governor Yahaya Bello with unprecedented votes.
Like the Director General on media to the executive governor of Kogi state, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo rightly said, indeed Kogi State is a microcosm of Nigeria. I quite agree with him. Kogi State is a state where you will find replica of problems bedeviling the nation and as such Kogi state requires an extra ordinary hand.
I am optimistic in the aptitude of the man at the helm of the state affairs and his lieutenants.
Under the new direction government, Kogi State will continue to rise above sentiments, hates and fallacies. God bless my leaders and the people of Kogi state.
