Let me tell you something you missed in this picture:
When I started out writing on political themes especially as it bothers on Kogi State, I wanted to achieve a few things.
1. Change the narrative to be educational and issue based.
2. Inject civility and high dose of academic profundity to replace the card of ethnicity, religious bigotry and shallow thinking that characterizes the thought-pattern of many Kogi comrades.
You see this picture here, shallow minded media politicians who only have nuisance value said GYB went to “beg” Asiwaju Tinubu for the APC ticket in Kogi state.
I find that thinking not only daft, but still the mediocrity handed down from their generation of expired politicians. Of course, we live in a state that gubernatorial tickets have been “given” and “taken” from people at will, a case exampler is Dr. Jibrin Isah Echocho when PDP played ludo with his political destiny.
Listen to me.
Do people “give” ticket or delegates vote to “choose” their preferred candidates in primaries? I know these media urchins took their precedent from the PDP in the state who didn’t allow for any primaries but went on to select automatic candidates for the last elections. Dino Melaye and all other PDP members who lost the recent election were beneficiaries of the system.
Politics is about negotiation. Asiwaju Tinubu cannot come to Kogi to cast votes. Neither can he collect or give Ticket to anyone. At best, he can use his influence to also negotiate in the processes.
Be mindful of this revelation:
1. Asiwaju Tinubu’s group have eyes on the ball for 2023. He has everything to lose, not Bello. Bello belongs to the Buhari camp that would determine the outcome of 2023. The Jagaban of politics is not so naive to play with those who have his testes in their claws. You know that man called Abbah Kyari? You know that woman called Aisha Buhari?
2. Tinubu’s 2023 cannot be tacitly possible without him controlling the House of Representatives and the Senate. That is why he is sponsoring Femi Gbajabiamila for the coveted seat at the lower chamber. This single seat is more important to him than Governorship stool of Kogi state. Only political neophytes don’t know this.
Kogi has 7 out of 9 out of Reps delivered by Gov Bello. Asiwaju would be banking on the support of Bello to get his party elect members vote for Gbajiabiamila.
At the Senate Level, Lawan has always been the choice of Tinubu. Kogi has 2 out of 3 Senators to play with. Asiwaju would not be reaching out to a PDP with mediocrity or non-existent trace in the state because anyone is unhappy. He would play the number card.
3. He would make noise with media. Drag Bello to the table to make a deal for 2023. What would it be? Obviously, to get his support in advance on the activation of number 2.
Politics is not about grandstanding. You hold your ground at some point and then you compromise at some point to balance the game. That is what politicians like Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye do not understand, hence, they keep expending more energy for something a fist can do. Do you think Bello would pay attention to Dino? No. Dino won’t be on the ballot. He has nothing to lose but also everything to lose. If Bello retains the APC ticket and supports Asiwaju’s candidates at the Reps and NASS, Dino would be in the extinct minority. He cannot also decamp to the APC because of his troubles back at home and how the Buhari camp perceives him. Tinubu also cannot trust him because he knows he only has noise making value.
See what Dino would be doing as we go into the elections:
1. Like he is always usually paid to cause scandals. He would engage in virulent media onslaught on the person of the Governor. He won’t be the one to benefit, others will. Even those in APC.
2. Carefully planned propaganda would be on top. Lies everywhere. Chaos on media. However, it ends there.
3. When primaries are done and Bello picks his ticket, all the noise would fizzle out because no other politician has the structure Bello has in the state. He also rebuilt the current APC leadership when the Haddy Ametou group that brought in Audu took exit.
Is it even possible for a new person to come overnight to hijack 92% electoral victory and member elect loyalty? How many of these people warming up can boast of structures across board? The truth is, when they were supposed to be on ground in spending funds to keep their structures, they went AWOL because of Buhari.
Also the only currency of their campaign is salaries. Bello has made headways in getting the 30B bailouts which can clear the backlogs he owes. People don’t live by hate, they live by survival. The goal is not to get 100% votes. If you have 300 thousand in Kogi elections, you have won.
If Bello pays salaries by June and use August 28 to bring President Buhari to Commission 28 projects which they don’t believe exists, what would happen?
Of course, that is when PDP would start fighting:
Wada is coming back. Wada’s brother is coming back. Ibro’s son is coming back. Audu’s two sons wants to contest. Victor Adoji cannot be a favourite of Ibro.
Shortsighted people don’t see it. They don’t understand it.
As for the Ohinoyi’s Statement on Bello saying he doesn’t have a problem with Bello but that he has more Igalas close to him than others? It means, Igalas are more represented in the Government than others. It means Igalas have more projects than others. He also feels, Igalas have more influence than others. All those proponents of Igala Agenda, do you think this your slogan would fly? It will fly on Facebook. Let us forget the emerging political leaders of youthful age from. Kogi East, West and Central who are fast learning on the job. They know the stakes that they have no input of participation in any government headed by yesterday’s men. They would work their souls off to secure their commitment of consolidation. With a promotion system in place as Governor Bello returns, who would be benefiting? How about from the ward levels where we have Small Governors and other structures seeking elevation, they will allow their work of 4 years go to waste? Let me reveal something to you, the current local government administrators, safe for some that have been changed were all local government coordinators when Gov. Bello ran his campaign in 2015.
Before November, 1.5B would be powering 90% of Igala land with electricity, something three governors of Igala extraction couldn’t do in maybe 19 years.
My friends, the rubble in Kogi is making many people no to understand the real issues. Like I said, on social media, they’ll keep winning and missing the real point. Let us not also forget, in 2015 when the chances were dimmer and unclear, Governor Bello emerged miraculously in an event only God supervised. God is not a contractor of uncompleted projects. Is it now that Gov Bello has incumbency powers that it would be too hard for him to coast to victory on the same hands of God that gives power?
