Be Fervent in Prayers for Kogi, Assembly Speaker Urge Christians at Easter

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has urged Christians in the state and the country to be fervent in their prayers for leaders at all levels in this period of Easter Celebration.

This is contained in a Press statement signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

According to the Statement, the Speaker said the lessons of the period should guide their conduct as encapsulated in the Holy Bible, noting that selflessness in the face anguish, sacrifice and then victory form part of the essence of the occasion.

The speaker noted that Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday through to Easter Sunday are solemn period which requires self reflection and the need to be forgiving and concentrate on the divinity of the times for a better society.

He noted that the challenging times being faced globally requires concerted efforts towards seeking the face of God through prayers, stressing the need for those celebrating the period to stand in the gap for a better society.

As leaders, he said President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo mean well for the country and the state, and expressed the hope that the reforms of the current federal government would begin to bear fruit in no distant time to ease the difficulty being faced by citizens.

On his part, on behalf of lawmakers in the state, the Speaker said they would continue to make laws for the good of all the state’s citizens, adding that Kogi State House of Assembly members are legislators with compassion, hence their regular consultation with the executive on how to bring succour to the people.

He further applauded Governor Ododo for his show of compassion and dedication to care for the welfare of the State, noting that his genuine efforts has made life a bit bearable for the citizens and wish members of his cabinet a happy celebration, on behalf of the state lawmakers.

The Speaker therefore restated his call on the Christian Community in the state to always remember their leaders in the place of prayers for the success of government and the overall betterment of Kogi people.
