Senator Atai Aidoko Ali has described the collapse of Sheria ‎bridge in Bassa local government area ad evidence of failed government in Kogi State.
Aidoko admitted this while sympathising with the victims and the people of Bassa local government on the yuletide calamity that brought horror to the people of the area.
Emphatizing with the people, Aidoko admonished them saying, “this too shall pass”. He urged the people to be patient and endure.
The Federal lawmaker said the situation is glaringly unfortunate as the current leadership in the state has jettisoned programs that will be beneficial to the people and consciously blocking well meaning individuals from carrying out such people oriented programs.
“I am not unaware ‎of the efforts of a federal lawmaker to reconstruct the Sheria bridge but he was frustrated by the state government whose intention was to claim the glory and frustrate the people’s representative.
“Governance, leadership and development should be a collective project geared towards the welfare of the people devoid of political undertone. It will be counterproductive when such ideas are frustrated at the altar of bitter politicking.
“When two elephant fights,‎ the grass will suffer just as the people of the area are regrettably bearing the consequences of the negative decisions of the state government to address infrastructure decay,” he said.
He expressed worries over the sad development, saying the people of the area who by now are supposed to be soaked in celebration are now filled ‎with mourning and dejection as a result of the  greed of our leaders.
Aidoko stated that arrangement are in top gear to send a high powered ‎delegation to assess the extent of human and material damage, saying he shared in their grief and dejection.
