A socio-cultural group, the Bassa-Nge Nation, has expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for approving the conferment of Kogi State honour awards on four eminent sons of the area.
In a statement signed by the convener, Chris Audam, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the Bassa-Nge Nation said the people are elated because “our worthy sons will be in the state’s hall of fame”.
The statement listed Late Andrew Aileku, Late Lt. Colonel Abu Ali, Mr. Jacob Edi and Justice Umaru Eri as eminent Bassa-Nge sons shortlisted for the awards taking place of Friday, January 26.
They added that Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment to supporting, upgrading and recognizing excellence in Bassa-Nge communities from inception and now through the Kogi State Honour Award is truly commendable.
“This gesture has won our hearts and solidified our respect for his leadership.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon Jacob Edi for this recognition. His dedication and indefatigable efforts have played a pivotal role in the positive transformation of the Bassa-Nge Nation, our great state and Nigeria at large.
“Chief Andrew Aileku and Lt. Col. Abu Ali’s legacies and Hon Justice Umaru Eri’s commitment to public service have been instrumental to shaping the narrative of progress in our dear state.
“This prestigious award serves as a testimony to their remarkable impact on Kogi’s socio-political landscape.
“However, as we navigate the transition to a new government, we, the Bassa-Nge Nation, express our deep appreciation for H.E Gov Yahaya Bello’s leadership. His tenure has left an indelible mark, and we will undoubtedly miss his visionary approach to governance,” the statement read.
The Bassa-Nge Nation pledged its unwavering support to the incoming administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, adding that the group believe in the continuity of progress and development for Kogi State.
“We look forward to working collaboratively with the new administration for the greater good of our beloved state.”
