Kogi State House of Assembly has appealed to the state government to rehabilitate streetlights in Lokoja metropolis.
The appeal followed a motion of urgent public importance sponsored on the floor of the House by the member representing Okehi constituency, Murktar Bajeh on the need for the state government to rehabilitate the streetlights in the state capital.
He said the areas where the streetlights faulty usually cast darkness thereby harbouring criminals who take advantage of the darkness to disposes people of their valuables.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Ankpa II constituency, Alfa Momoh-Rabiu said a lot of abnormalities happen around the areas the streetlights were bad as such there was need to get them fixed.
In his ruling the Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole, said the need for functioning streetlights in Lokoja can not be over emphasised.
He directed the House committee on works and housing to liaise with the ministry of works and housing to ensure the streetlights were rehabilitated.
