Awoniyi Laments Mismatch Between Expectation and Resources

The mismatch between the expectations of the people and resources available to the state government, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated is reason why several legitimate expectations of the people cannot be met.

Awoniyi, made the disclosure in an interview, while X – raying the administration of Capt Idris Wada in the last three and a half year.

The Deputy Governor, lamented a situation where 127% of revenue accruing to the State Government is used to pay salaries of workers, said the development leaves other sectors begging for development lagging behind.

While noting that aside the cost of running government, impress to running government offices, educational and health institutions, government he added is also committed to the payment of counterpart funds to agencies and organizations, with so much resources he added spent on maintaining peace and security, a priceless but most costliest item that people do not take note of.

Awoniyi, explained that Kogi State is bounded by nine States and the Federal Capital Territory, a development that makes the state vulnerable to security challenges but said Capt Wada’s prudent management of resources has made the State one of the most relatively peaceful State in the country.

Awoniyi, said the efforts to complete all inherited projects and the commencement of new projects across the State and in every Local Government, has been the hallmark of the Capt Wada’s administration.

Awoniyi, listed the re-development of Kogi Hotels, the establishment of a Bus Station terminal in Felele, the on-going construction of the major arterial road in Lokoja with good drainage, street light and sidewalks and the on-going Otokiti – Ganaja bye pass, to reduce congestion in the metropolis as some efforts of government to improve infrastructure.

Awoniyi, appealed for the electorate of the electorate ahead of the November 21st governorship election, said another opportunity would enable Capt. Idris Wada consolidate on the good works it has began.
