Death has been described as a necessary end for all mortals with Nigerians asked to work towards immortalizing their names by their good works while alive.
Kogi State Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi made the remarks yesterday when he paid a condolence visit to Valere Ebe, Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State in Uyo who buried her mother at the weekend.
Yomi Awoniyi who was accompanied on the condolence visit by Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, described late Mrs Patricia Paul Bassey the mother of the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, as a woman who will be greatly missed for her good deeds and service to mankind.
While noting that people should be concerned about what they give back to the society and not what they receive from the society, said the time to put the nation far above personal interest is now.
Awoniyi urged the family of Late Patricia Paul Bassey to emulate her good deeds and the legacies of patriotism and hard work she exemplified while alive.
Yomi Awoniyi condoled with the family of Late Patricia Paul Bassey, people and government of Akwa Ibom State, urged them to take solace in God, adding that available records shows that late Patricia Paul Bassey was diligent in her service to humanity while alive.
