The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, has described the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan as a vote for consolidation of his transformation agenda for the country.
Awoniyi stated this while inspecting the state of preparedness at the Lokoja Township Stadium, venue of the rally by the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, who is due in the state on Wednesday.
The first lady will be in Lokoja the state capital today in continuation of her nationwide sensitisation tour ahead of the March 28 presidential election and to sensitise the women to vote for President Jonathan.
Awoniyi described Jonathan as the best option for Nigeria now in view of the change the country has witnessed under his leadership.
He added that the people of the state have resolved to throw their weight behind him in view of the benefits from the consolidation of his mandate.
The deputy governor applauded the president for his landmark projects for the state which he listed as the completion of Lokoja Abuja road, the Ports at Lokoja and Idah as well as the Federal University established in Lokoja
He added that the ongoing repairs of Kabba to Ilorin road which had not been rehabilitated in the last 30 years, the establishment of a staple crop zone at Alape and the ongoing rehabilitation of Ajaokuta-Ayingba road, are concrete evidence for the people of the state to queue behind him.
Awoniyi disclosed that the state was ready to receive the wife of the president, disclosing that the excitement and zeal displayed by the people is an indication of their support for President Jonathan.
He urged the women of the state to come out in their large numbers to accord her a rousing welcome.
Awoniyi described Kogi as a PDP state and said the present administration has keyed into the transformation agenda of President Jonathan for women by giving them critical portfolios in his cabinet.
