A former House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Usman Okai Austin, has hinted that he may soon resign from the party.
Okai, who also served as the National Coordinator of the National PDP Youths Frontier, made the remark while speaking on TVC’s Breakfast Show in Abuja on Thursday.
When asked if Nigerians should expect a resignation letter from him amid the ongoing wave of defections across political parties, Okai responded with a smile, saying consultations were ongoing.
He said, “My sister, the way things are going, we are consulting and talking. Just like I said, you can’t be leaving opposition to opposition political party; that is not politics. Either you leave an opposition party or you leave a ruling party.”
Okai’s remarks have fueled speculations that he might be the next prominent PDP member from Kogi state to announce his exit as political realignments gather momentum ahead of 2027 elections.
