THE much awaited defection of members of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Kogi State will formally come to light today, as the former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, is expected to lead thousands of his supporters from ANPP to ACN at Lokoja township stadium.
The occasion is expected to be graced by all South-West governors, ACN state house of assemblies, ACN Senators and House Representatives members.
The former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, is expected to lead the leadership of the party and supporters of ACN from the South-West, the North-Central, particularly Kwara, Benue, Niger and Nasarawa states, to the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prince Audu has said that the people of Kogi State are well prepared for today’s occasion.
Speaking with newsmen on Saturday at his residence in Lokoja after receiving thousands of people who defected from various political parties in the state that are ready to move with him to ACN, said that the party was the only alternative in the state.
Prince Audu, who advised President Goodluck Jonathan not to kill opposition parties, noted that having opposition would encourage active participation in democracy. He added that this would give more room to development and good governance in the state.
He said that ANPP decided to go with ACN so that they could reclaim Kogi from PDP in the next year governorship election.
He said that with strong campaign, determination, free and fair election that is well conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ACN will definitely win the election.
He assured that the people of the state that very soon, the state would be out of bondage.
