The former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, has described as false, the claims by the PDP in the state that the APC connived with INEC to rig elections.

This was in reaction to claims by the Chairman of the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Hassan Salau, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rigged the just concluded National and State Assembly elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview with Channels Television correspondent in Kaduna, the former governor, who is also the leader of APC in Kogi State, described the elections as free and fair, adding that the people of the state were tired of the ineptitude and bad governance of the PDP-led government in the state, and therefore voted massively for the APC.

Audu, while stating that the APC and its teeming supporters had been victims of election manipulation in Kogi State since 1999, wondered why the PDP would not accept defeat and congratulate the winners.

He also expressed the willingness of his party in Kogi State to welcome anyone willing to decamp from the PDP or any other political party, including the incumbent Governor, Captain Idris Wada.

Also speaking, another chieftain of the APC in the state and the Senator-elect for Kogi West, Mr Dino Melaye, described the massive victory the party recorded in the state and across the country as a sign of the party’s acceptability by the masses.

He expressed optimism that the APC federal government led by General Muhammadu Buhari would tackle the Boko Haram security challenge in the north-east and also address some of the major economic and social problems across the country.
