There was massive protest on Monday in Idah the traditional home of the Igala people by a section of the people over Chieftaincy and land matters.
The protesters alleged that the, Attah Igala, His Majesty, Chief Michael Ameh Oboni ll of trying to impose a Chief over the people of Itobe community in Ofu Local Government Area as against the wish of the people.
The People alleged that the Attah Igala was trying to appoint a woman to replace the Amana of Itobe, Muhammed Egbunu Obaje who died three weeks ago.
According to one Danjuma Suleiman, who claimed to be the chairman of Itobe community, said that the stool of Amana of Itobe is hereditary, saying that it belongs to the family of Amanabo.
According to him, the Attah Igala wants to forcefully take it from the owners of the throne.

According to him the Attah Igala invited them to Idah for a meeting, saying that instead of telling them the real agenda of the meeting, he told them that he has handed over their ancestral land to another person.
The Community Chairman, therefore called for the intervention of both federal and state government to avert the impending imposition on the people of Itobe and the consequences.
But when contacted, Secretary to Attah Igala, Alhaji Adama Suleiman denied the allegations, saying, “Attah is not trying to impose any woman on them; it is not true”.
