Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 2015 elections in Kogi State and member House of Representatives, Hon James Faleke has described as bestial and barbaric today’s attack on a House of Assembly member within the Chambers of the assembly in Lokoja.
According to the lawmaker, the attack on Hon Friday Sani Makama by hoodlums suspected to be sponsored by the powers that be in the State in the full glare of scores of policemen who looked the other way while it lasted was another low in the rapidly degenerating security situation of the state.
Hon Makama was thoroughly beaten by the thugs who invaded the Assembly premises to unleash terror.
He had earlier been suspended by his colleagues in the Assembly for being too critical of the state government and the Assembly’s leadership but went to court and secured judgement ordering his reinstatement.
“Who will save our dear state from being in the news for the wrong reasons everyday. What happened yesterday was a show of shame and mad desperation. This is a big threat to democracy. It further drives in the fact that indeed nobody is safe in Kogi any longer as the government of the day seems to be giving tacit support to thuggery and lawlessness!”, he said.
Hon Faleke called on the Inspector General of Police to urgently investigate this barbaric act and arrest culprits swiftly.
