Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji, 33 Others Honoured for Contributions to Sports Development

In a night filled with excitement and recognition, Babe Ruth League Nigeria honoured Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji with the prestigious Grassroots Sports Development Enthusiast Award. Alongside him, 33 other notable personalities who have made significant contributions to sports development, particularly in Baseball and Softball in Nigeria and beyond, were also recognized.

The award presentation took place during the Babe Ruth League Nigeria Inc 2025 Gala/Award dinner and fundraising event held at Igbobi College Yaba, Lagos. The League President, Mr. Ayodele Gideon, presented the awards on behalf of the country Commissioner for Babe Ruth League Nigeria, Mr. Imonikhe John Peter.

Mr. Gideon commended Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji Gcfr for his various grassroots initiatives that have had a strong impact on children, especially in the realm of sports. He urged him to continue his excellent work and extend his support to Baseball and Softball, as the organization is committed to working with him towards the shared vision of grassroots sports development.

Receiving the award on Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji Gcfr’s behalf, Dr. James Asagula assured the organization that the honouree remains focused on grassroots development and that sports will continue to be a key channel in achieving his visions.

Among the other awardees were individuals and organizations such as HRH Chief Alhaji Braimah Inaboya, Chief Sir James O.K Idornigie, Late Chief James Oshiapi Iluebbey, Mr. Gideon Anaekwue Kodir, Peter Caliendo of Caliendo Sports International, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Gen. Ishola Williams (Rtd.), Prof. Ndi Okereke, Apostle (Dr.) Armstrong Ogwuche, Asagunla James, the US Embassy Abuja, Chief Donatus N. Agu Ejidike, Hon. Monday A. Anyebe.

Others are Mr. Jacob Dennis Albert-Dede, Coach Magnus Ike, Lage Katarina Ramos, Jessica LaBella, Michael Solanik, Rev. Adedotun Oludolapo Akanbi, Angels At Bat, Rob Connor, Late Otunba Michael Olasubomi ‘Subomi’ Balogun, Igbobi College Old Boys Association, Prince Imonikhe John Peter, Senator John Owan Enoh, Mal. Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association, Mr. Deji Adekunle, Justice Olasupo Shasore, and Bayour Issah.

The event was a celebration of the dedication and commitment of these individuals and organizations to the development of sports, particularly in the area of Baseball and Softball. Congratulations to all the deserving awardees for their outstanding contributions and commitment to sports development.
