Social crusader, Comrade Usman Austin Okai has berated Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on the commissioning only tertiary Institutions fund (TETFUND) projects in Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba (PAAU) without evidence that his government has done anything in the institution.

Okai faulted the university Vice- Chancellor, Prof Marietu Tenuche for misleading the state  governor who had no single project in the Institution in the last six years, despite taking over the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the institution.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the activist called on the managers of TETFUND to be wary of Kogi Governor politicising its jobs in the state university.

He challenged Governor Bello to stop deliberate underfunding the state university located in Anyigba, without recourse to lay down procedures.

He recalled the statement by the Governor allowing the institution to take charge of its IGR as political and belated, after his failed treasury single account.

He challenged Bello to account for the collection of tertiary institutions’ IGR in Kogi in the last six years.

“The Vice- Chancellor of the university ought have resigned or be sanctioned for the aberration. No TETFUND project has been commissioned by any state government,” he alleged.

Okai tasked Kogi Indigenes in the private and public sectors to help salvage the state university to sustain the vision of its founders, adding that efforts should be geared towards attracting private conglomerates to complete the proposed  250 bed Kogi State University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba since the state government has abandoned the project at 30% conception.

“Coming to commission federal government projects in an environment where he can not pay 24 months salaries to its workers, yet advertising for fresh employment into the institution is a gross aberration.

“It is sad that even some workers of Kogi State College of Education Ankpa have not been paid their salaries in the last 31 months, but about 100 new staff were recently employed.

‘We are not unaware that the new employment carried out at the State College of Education Ankpa was lopsided and generated a lot of crises. This is sad.’  Okai said.
