Ash Wednesday: Wada Urges Christians to Shun Negative Vices

As Christians begin this year’s lenten season with the Ash Wednesday, the Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada , has urged Christians to shun negative vices during the period.

The Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, in a statement urged Nigerian Christians to reflect on and review their spiritual life.

The period the Governor disclosed should be dedicated to abstinence and other negative vices that does not edify the name of God.

The period the Governor also disclosed is to also “reflect through fasting,perseverance, alms giving and also to helping others especially the needy and weak amongst us”

“Since the Lenten season in Christendom marks a period of sober reflection, fasting and penitent in anticipation of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, it is imperative that the season is also used for a deeper and sober reflection on the State of affairs in our country”, he advised.

The Governor called for prayers for the present administration noting that it is desirous in creating a peaceful state for growth and development.
