Four persons were killed by suspected herdsmen when they allegedly attacked mourners at a border town, Udaba in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State. It was gathered that seven others were  injured during the fracas.

Witnesses said the herdsmen, who were armed with AK 47 rifles, bows and arrows attacked the people who were mourning their dead and that it took the intervention of the military to bring the situation under control.

Chairman of the area, Mr Labaran Oyigebe,  appealed to the herdsmen to stop attacking people of Omala, “who provided them with shelter when they had problems with Agatu people of Benue State”.

He alleged that the herdsmen raped, vandalised property and are now killing his people without provocation.

He called on leaders of the herdsmen to prevail on them to desist from what he called wanton destruction of lives and property.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Emeka Emeh, who confirmed the incident said security personnel have been drafted to the area.
