- Matawalle Committee Lack Power to Disqualify Any Aspirant – Murtala
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, has assured his supporters that he will take all necessary steps to ensure that justice is served concerning the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election in Kogi state.
Speaking with newsmen after the primary exercise on Friday, the governorship aspirant said “any results that do not include Murtala Akaka will not be recognized.”
He said the Governor Bello Matawalle-led primary election committee erred by disqualifying him without recourse to party rules and court injunction.
“It is not within Governor Bello Matawalle’s authority to act as a judicial panel or to disqualify anyone.
“As we move forward, I want to let you know that Bello Matawalle’s committee was empaneled to conduct a free and fair primary election in Kogi state where all the aspirants are given equal opportunity. Governor Bello Matawalle is not a judicial panel.
“It has come to our attention that the local returning officer failed to record a valid result as voted from the field. It is important to note that any results that do not include Murtala Akaka will not be recognized.
“We want to assure our supporters that we will take all necessary steps to ensure that justice is served concerning the outcome of the election. As we progress to the National Working Committee, we are confident that the appropriate measures will be taken to address this issue,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their overwhelming turnout at the polls, noting that their large turnout and participation in the botched primary election gave him hope and encouragement.
“I am deeply grateful for the tremendous show of support you have given me by coming out en masse to vote for me. Your unwavering commitment and dedication to the APC and my cause have been nothing short of inspiring.
“I want you to know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I am truly grateful for every one of you. Your belief in me has given me the strength and determination to keep pushing forward, even in the face of challenges.”
