Alhaji Abdullahi Shuaibu, one of the contestants for the stool of Onu-Ejefa Enabo in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, has alleged that his life and that of his family members are under threat.
In a petition to the state government and signed by Mohammed Usman Mahmoud, his lawyer, the complainant alleged that one Mustapha Audu, who is also contesting the same stool has been intimidating him.
He said Mustapha Audu’s claims that he has been appointed by the state government is not true, adding that the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had cleared the air through a letter dated November 21, 2014.
He said the letter stated that none of the aspirants to the stool has been appointed, as the matter is still in court.
Alhaji Abdullahi alleged that Mustapha Audu used some boys, vigilante members and police to arrest and detain 13 members of his family. He appealed to the state governor, Idris Wada, to wade into the matter.
Responding, Alhaji Mustapha Audu, confirmed that the case is still in court. He however added that in October 2014, the state government made an arrangement in respect of the stool and “asked me to occupy the position pending the outcome of the matter at the state High Court. I never used my position to intimidate anybody”.
