The people of Old Enjema District, comprises of Enjama I, II, III and IV under the umbrella of Old Enjema District Development Association in Ankpa ii State Constituency have conferred an award of Excellence on member representing their constituency; Hon Rabiu Momoh Alfa.
The Chairman of the Socio-Cultural group; Elder J. J. Abu who described Hon Rabiu as an Icon of hope and an erudite politician said, Hon Rabiu’s style of leadership was simply exceptional in the history of democracy in Ankpa Local Government Area and Kogi State in general. According to him “I want to thank God for electing you as our representative in the State House of Assembly. As people from Ankpa Local Government Area, we feel proud of ourselves any time you speak on the floor of the State Assembly because you always represent the peoples interest. We have never had it good like this in the past, we will continue to pray for you and you shall excel in your political career. Old Enjema District Development Association was aware of your effort in ensuring peace at Ogodo where a private company is carrying out coal mining currently. We are also aware in the steps you’ve taken to draw the attention of the State Government to erosion menace in Ankpa and recently, members of OEDDA were in a town hall meeting where you presented your Constituency Project Allowance to the people of Ankpa ii, that was the first of its kind and we are grateful to God for having you”.
The president of Igala Cultural Development Association ICDA, Elder Godwin Idakwo described Hon Rabiu as a politician with great intellect and integrity. He urged elected officers to emulate Hon Rabiu’s leadership style which he described as peoples oriented.
In his prayers, Elder John Onuche said God nominated Hon Rabiu on behalf of the people of Ankpa ii to be a Beacon of light in the dark political age and prayed to God to lift him higher in his life.
The Treasurer of OEDDA Hon Ahmed Tijani said the people of Ankpa ii made the right political choice ever in electing Hon Rabiu as their representative in the State House of Assembly. Describing Hon Rabiu as a fearless and uncompromising politician, Hon Tijani said Ankpa ii is much more recognised and respected today because of the kind of leadership Hon Rabiu is providing in the State Assembly and prayed to God to guide him in his political journey.
In their joint statements, Deacon Amos Sani and Mallam Mohammed Makolo described Hon Rabiu’s leadership as exemplary, commended him for identifying with the Association irrespective of his tight schedules while praying to God to protect him and his family.
In his response, Hon Rabiu thanked members of Old Ejema District Association for finding him worthy of the award. He said the only mandate that brought him to the State Assembly was that given to him by the people of Ankpa II State Constituency noting that he must work to defend the peoples mandate by standing for their interest at all time.
He said haven identified some challenges of the people of his constituency even before vying to represent them in the State Assembly, Rabiu said he has outlined such challenges and he is doing his best to ensure they are addressed by the higher authority in the state. speaking on his constituency development effort, Hon Rabiu said that only 2015 constituency allowance was the one released to them recently by His Excellency Alh Yahaya Bello and on receiving the fund, he quickly called a town hall meeting of Ankpa ii Constituency where the fund was presented to the people and a committee was set up by the people themselves to identify the pressing needs of their communities which the fund can help in ameliorating.
According to him “After the committee which was set up by the people submitted their report, the money was withdrawn and we did the disbursement to carry out the following projects in my constituency;
- A borehole project in Enjema i
- A market Shops in Ofugo
- Renovation of Primary School Classrooms in Inye
- Renovation of Primary School Clasrooms in Ayitata
- Building of market shops in Ojoku i
- Fencing of Primary School at Okaba
- Renovation of Primary School, Awo
- Building of shops at Ojoku open market”.
“This part of what my people elected me for and i will continue to do this as long as i remained their representative in the State House of Assembly. All we need to move our constituency, local government and state forward is peace and cooperation, i will continue to seek for your support and cooperation in this journey to make an impact so that history will not forget us soon”
The gathering was well attended by friends, well wishers, and the people of Ankpa Local Government Area.
