Ankpa Flags Off 1,000 Special Public Jobs

The Executive Chairman of Ankpa Llocal government area of Kogi state, Hon.Ibrahim Abagwu has flagged off the federal government’s Extended Special Public Works (ESPW) for 1,000 beneficiaries in the council.

Recall that the ESPW programme is an initiative of the Federal Government through which 774,000 citizens, 1,000 beneficiaries from each council across the country, would be engaged to reduce unemployment.

While flagging off the programme in Ankpa on Wednesday, the Chairman said the initiative was aimed at engaging the youths in different special work programmes.

Abagwu added that it was also meant to improve the quality of life through meaningful ventures.

He said “this initiative will surely assist us in the fight against insecurity in the council and also reducing unemployment rates in the country.

“As you embark on this three months programme which aim to sanitize our environment, you should endeavour to carry out any assignments given to you effectively in order to get pay on time.”

Abagwu applauded the President Muhammadu Buhari for the wonderful initiative and also extended gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for making sure that public works enrollment forms get to the targeted unemployed beneficiaries across the State.

In his remarks, the Kogi State coordinator of NDE and secretary selection committee, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari, urged the beneficiaries to ensure they participate in the process in order to boost the federal government desire to extend the program beyond three months.
