Honorable Ahmed Mohammed of Ankpa I State constituency and the Deputy Majority Leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly has stated that effective teaching and learning can only take place in a good and conducive atmosphere.
Mohammed made this known on Saturday at Young Muslim Congress Secondary School, Ankpa,
Speaking at the donation of chairs, tables for students and Staff of YMC Secondary School, he said many of the schools in Ankpa LGA are not what they used to be.
According to him, some of the schools that were dignified Secondary Schools and has produced lots of dignitaries are now dilapidated and rundown.
“A brother was so pained about the very bad shape of YMC Secondary School and took to the social media to write me an open letter, we immediately swung into action visiting the school the next day and after inspecting the whole environment.
“Personally, I was disappointed at the dilapidated and very dusty environment our children had to sit and receive lectures. Though, this donation is not enough, but we must start from somewhere. The buildings are fallen everyday and this applies to most schools in Ankpa LGA. I will keep trying my best and also calling on the government to save the public schools in Kogi State,” he said.
The principal, while commending the kind gesture of Honorable Ahmed Mohammed, said his donation is a demonstration of his passion for the development of education in Ankpa LGA.
He urged others to reciprocate the kind gesture by improving the standard of our public schools.
The Deputy Majority Leader, through his Back to School Education Support Initiative, awarded scholarship to twenty students and it covers up to University level.
