Anambra People Injures Six Farmers in Ibaji Over Border Dispute

No fewer than six people from Echeno community in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State were on Monday injured in a renewed hostility between Kogi and Anambra states over border dispute. It was gathered that Ibaji people were working in their farms when the people of Izago community in Anambra State attacked them, injuring six of the farmers.

A resident of the area, Benjamin Adiku, who spoke to Daily Sun reporter on phone, said Anambra people attacked them on Monday afternoon while their people were working on their farms. According to him, the Anambra people on getting to the area where Ibaji people were working started shooting sporadically while they all scamper for safety and in the process six persons were injured.

He said they were able to repel the attackers before they could inflict more injuries on Ibaji people. While calling on the state government for protection, Adiku also called on the Federal Government to intervene in the matter so that it would not snowball into ethnic war. When contacted, the Kogi State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Romanus Nwaneri said he was in a meeting and that he would get back to the Daily Sun reporter.
