It is not longer news that ASUU Kogi State University Chapter has been on strike for almost six(6) months, and both the government and the university academic union has shifted ground(s) but unfortunately the issues that led to the strike action has not been resolved.
As a concerned citizen of Kogi State I want to appeal to both the academic union (ASUU KSU) and Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to remember that GOD has purpose(s) for everything in this life, a purpose for making Gov. YAHAYA BELLO the executive governor of Kogi State at this time that HE (GOD) have a purpose for making every ASUU member including the (Executive Members), members of Kogi State University academic union at this time. So therefore, for the sake of God both parties should see reasons and resolve the issues that led to the strike.
I want to commend ASUU KSU for the struggle so far towards ensuring a conducive academic environment in the university but should also understand that two wrong(s) can never make a right, and also commend the state government as it has met 90% of the academic union’s demand, there is no doubt that the Governor Bello led administration has shown commitment towards ensuring academic stability in the state but I also plea that the New Direction Government should also leave no stone unturned, therefore if the government cannot meet the remaining 10% of ASUU’s demand now, ASUU executives should be called to a round table and a Memorandum of understanding should be signed by both parties (KGS and ASUU KSU) stating clearly when the remaining 10% would be met thereby leaving ASUU KSU with no choice than to suspend the industrial action.
We (STUDENTS) have been very patient to be considered as we are at receiving end of this empasse. ASUU KSU has been our father(s) and will always be, please for the sake of your children (STUDENTS) end the Six(6) months old industrial action.
Kogi State Governor (GYB) is our Landlord and the father of Kogi State, please for the sake of your children employ every means of ensuring quality education in your house.
