A former senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 Kogi West elections, Ambassador Rufus Aiyenigba has emerged pioneer chairman of the interim national executive committee of Conference of Spokespersons of Political Parties in Nigeria (CSPPaN).
In a statement signed by the interim public relations officer, Sidi Nassar Ali, CSPPaN’s interim executive committee were elected and inaugurated at the second general meeting of the forum which held virtually on Tuesday.
Aiyenigba is the current national publicity secretary of SDP.
The other members of the executive committee are: Chief Godwin Udu (NPS, APGA), Comrade Idowu Ogedengbe (NPS, ADP) and Alhaji Sidi Nassar Ali (NPS, APM).
CSPPaN, a forum, that was formed on the sidelines of a two-day Training Workshop that was organized by National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Abuja on March 23 & 24, 2021 for National Chairmen, National Publicity Secretaries and ICT/Social Media officers of political parties in Nigeria.
Spokespersons of fourteen political parties out of the eighteen registered political parties recognized by INEC are signatories to the formation of the Forum.
CSPPaN seeks to be a united non-partisan rostrum upon which the spokespersons of political parties in Nigeria would stand to interrogate and speak to topical national issues towards democratic consolidation, and sustainable national development.
The Forum seeks to safeguard and serve as a buffer for NPS of political parties, particularly those in opposition, against any form of intimidation or threat to them in the course of discharging their duties.
In a related development, the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA) has congratulated Aiyenigba on his appointment as the national publicity secretary of SDP.
A statement issued by the national publicity secretary of EACDA, Adekanye Victor Adewale, described Aiyenigba’s double national assignments as well deserved.
“The EACDA rejoices with and congratulate our dear son, Ambassador Rufus B Aiyenigba, on his appointment as the National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and also his emergence as the Interim Chairman, Conference of Spokespersons of Political Parties in Nigeria (CSPaN). These elevations eloquently validate and attest to the proficiency, dedication, competence, enthusiasm and loyalty that you have vigorously displayed at every given opportunity you have to serve in whatever capacity.
“We are particularly glad that your hard work and diligence over the years in the history of our nation’s nascent democracy is being rewarded, and we pray that this will be a solid stepping stone to greater achievements and accolades in your spheres of endeavours,” the statement read.
EACDA encouraged Aiyenigba to continue to be a good ambassador of Ekinrin-Adde community.
