Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Dekina local government area of Kogi State have reiterated that the embattled former chairman of the party in Dekina, Alhaji Husseini Ibrahim Ejini, remains suspended.
The stakeholders urged the people of the state, and Dekina local government in particular, to cease regarding Ejini as the chairman.
“The purported letter of affirmation he is carrying from the caretaker committee is null and void,” John Paul Audu said in a statement on Wednesday.
The party stated that Ejini, who reportedly threatened Chief John Odawn with suspension and death, and displayed no regard for party leaders, including the immediate PDP governor who also hails from Dekina LGA, cannot be reinstated to the party through clandestine means.
The statement read in part:
“We are not unaware of those behind the kangaroo arrangement, and it will not stand the test of time.”
“The suspension of Ejini followed party-laid down rules and regulations, and anything contrary must have the inputs of the critical stakeholders. Dekina PDP has been reduced to a mere environment for power tussle by those who cannot even deliver their own polling units to the party.
“Anyone relating to Ejini as a divisional chairman of the party in Dekina local government is on their own. We insist that if the letter is not withdrawn, the party may go to court to halt Ejini and his group.
“For emphasis, no State Working Committee or caretaker committee has the power whatsoever to contemplate or uplift the suspension of a divisional chairman who embezzled over 19 million naira and threatened to kill party leaders at the divisional and zonal levels without due recourse to the critical stakeholders as provided by the constitution of the PDP.
“The panel was set up made up of lawyers, the indicted chairman was invited and he chosed to meet the chairman of the panel privately where his own side was recorded , the necessary procedure was followed and he was suspended, the party have active chairman which is the person of Hon Prince Kabir Omata.
“The PDP is an organized political party governed by strict adherence to the provisions of its Constitution and Rules and will not allow any individual or group at any level to violate its Constitution and Rules.
“The stakeholders caution those involved in this illegal act in defiance of the PDP Constitution to retract their steps, as the party will not hesitate to take appropriate steps to seek redress in the appropriate court of law or take punitive actions to preserve the stability of our party and the sanctity of our Constitution and Rules.”
