Senator Yakubu Oseni is an all-round leader. His tentacles are in business, government and philanthropy. He is a development worker, philanthropist, politician and accomplished banker of enormous economic and political goodwill.
He was appointed as the chairman of Kogi Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to revive the then ailing revenue-generating sector.
He was formerly a Bank Business Manager at First Bank in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Over time, he has built a political fortune with a reservoir of very loyal supporters. He cut his teeth in the institutions of public service when he served with the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service.
I have said elsewhere before that my dear senator and leader, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni is a quintessential man. To expatiate this point, the truth is that in spite of his phenomenal educational attainments, professional and governmental accomplishments, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni wakes up every day thinking and generally carrying on like he could have done much more.
Working with him has not only exposed me to the realities of life, it has made me more mature in handling responsibilities and facing the consequences of taking a stand. I have learned, and still learning from his unique and peaceful approach to all sorts of issues.
I have directly perceived how truthful and peaceful Alhaji Yakubu Oseni could be, this is evident during the eve of 2019 elections when the heat of electioneering was at all time high in Kogi Central, he would always implore us to tread the path of peaceful coexistence and show maximum respect to the opposition.
At a point when several mischievous slanderous posts/articles were sponsored and orchestrated against his person, I would call to complain about how the opposition drags him, the slanders and inciteful statements, he would simply implore us to be patient.
On one occasion, he asked the team not to put themselves in any harm’s way for him, that if supporting him will cause us any harm, we should stop supporting him publicly. Just to be safe. This is the kind of man Alhaji Yakubu Oseni is. A quintessential man. You are a role model.
Alhaji Yakubu Oseni is not the typical politician, he played his politics by reaching out to the real stakeholders, the grassroot but he believes that his emergence, through a free and fair election, as the Senator of Kogi Central has offered him an opportunity, a vista of sorts, to help recalibrate Nigeria using Kogi Central as a starting point.
Alhaji Yakunu Oseni was born on 15th May, 1975, he holds the Bachelor degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna State, a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Abuja, and a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic.
Alhaji Yakubu was the the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Science, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2001). He won the award for the Best Graduating Student in the Department Of Economics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2001)., Distinguished African Personality of the Year by Africa Youth Parliament (2016), Transformation leader by Movement for Peaceful and Equitable Governance in Nigeria (2016), Excellence Leader by Okun Youths for Change (2016), Excellence Leader by National Association of Nigerian Students (2016), Humanitarian Service by Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja (2016), Quality Leadership and Outstanding performance by Association of Kogi Youth Concern (2016), Award of Excellence & Outstanding performance by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (2017), Award of Excellent Leadership in Tax administration by Chartered Institute of Taxation (2017).
He is happily married with children and also a sports enthusiast.
