I was “over-ghasted” and “flaberwhelmed” when Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi muted the idea of going back to meet APC delegates in Kogi State after primary election. The Kogi APC delegates who less than a week earlier had “rejected” him at the primary selection, apology to Jibrin Okutepa SAN, to say ‘thank you’ for standing by him in the face of intimidation and threat to life at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, the state headquarters.
Lulu walked the talk when on Saturday, 7th September, 2019. He met with the APC delegates across the state in his hometown where he also pledged to remain in the party despite all the deliberate attempt to frustrate him out of the Governorship race beginning from the Senator Hope Uzodinma led Screening Committee.
He also told the gathering that he holds no grudge against anyone as Allah is the only one that gives power. His magnanimity stretched beyond bread and butter politics as everyone present were not only happy but were convinced of his capacity to govern, his sterling leadership qualities and sincerity of purpose to lead the state out of the present quagmire.
After his speech, some persons could not hold back their tears. And confessed to the fact that the last time they witnessed such political maturity where an aspirant despite losing election to return to the people was the era of Dr Steven Makoji Achema of blessed memory.
Some speakers at the occasion expressed their shock on Ahaji Sani Lulu political tolerance and reliance on the grassroots as opposed to those who believed otherwise. And that it was happening at the time some other co-aspirants are even out of the country while others may not be seen again until another round of election.
Lulu promised to be the torchlight illuminating the path where the people can navigate their political direction.
“I cannot rest when the people I am leading have no rest and are not enjoying the good benefits of governance,” he said.
