The Alfarma Youth Association, Lokoja, has endorsed Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam, to run for a second term in office.
The Chairman of the forum, Mallam Yahaya Ibrahim disclosed the endorsement on Wednesday during a Sallah homage visit to the speaker at his GRA residence in Lokoja, the capital of the state.
Ibrahim said that the decision to adopt Imam was to avoid rancour and unnecessary bickering which he said is the greatest undoing of most of the political parties during the last general elections.
The Chairman of the forum, in his speech, listed some of the Speaker’s achievements in the past two years, saying that the only way the party can retain the state leadership in the 2019 elections is by supporting Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam for a second term in office.
“Experience matters and you cannot change an achiever, neither the winning team,” he said.
Yahaya, who was flanked by other members of the forum, urged electorates from Lokoja 1 constituency to adopt the Speaker in the interest of peace, growth and development of the constituency.
According to him, the Speaker, who was elected under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, has demonstrated high sense of patriotism by raising the bar on purposeful leadership and quality representation. This, he explained, informed the forum’s decision to endorse him for a second term.
Responding, the Speaker thanked them for their love and support and appealed to them to remain steadfast and avoid rancour which is capable of disuniting the forum
He assured them of his determination and zeal to contribute his quota towards the the development of Lokoja 1 constituency and the state at large.
High point of their visit was a presentation of a “thank you” souvenir to the Speaker in appreciation of his quality representation.
