Dr. Toyosi Akure-BAO has formally declared his intention to contest the Yagba West Constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akure-BAO made the declaration in a post on his Facebook handle, where he unveiled his campaign theme, the “WE Agenda.”

He said the agenda symbolises inclusiveness and stands for “Welfare and Empowerment,” stating that his aspiration was driven by service rather than personal ambition.

“This decision comes from careful reflection and a long-standing desire to serve our people in a greater capacity. It is not about personal ambition, but about our shared hopes, our common challenges, and the future we all want for our land,” he said.

Akure noted that his vision for the constituency was built around collective progress, stressing that development must involve all residents of Yagba West.

Highlighting his past interventions, the aspirant cited support for healthcare initiatives, including assistance for eye surgeries and treatments for other ailments in 2025, as well as COVID-19 relief efforts in 2020 through cash and distribution of essential materials.

He also referenced water projects across parts of Yagba West, which he said included repairs of boreholes and donation of water reservoirs and power generators to some communities.

On education, Akure said he had organized annual summer lessons since 2023, offered scholarships to outstanding students, distributed thousands of notebooks to pupils, paid state common entrance examination fees for all pupils in the local government in 2023, and supported candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

He added that academic and professional development initiatives, including facilitation of MBA awards to six beneficiaries, formed part of his commitment to human capital development.

In the area of community development, Akure listed projects such as reconstruction of culverts and construction of market stall shops aimed at improving mobility and supporting local commerce.

He specifically noted that he built a pure water factory and established a school, both of which, according to him, have provided employment opportunities for residents.

The aspirant further underscored youth-focused programmes, including provision of Point of Sale (POS) machines, startup funds, and organisation of annual football competitions designed to promote engagement and entrepreneurship.

He called for unity and support from stakeholders and residents, expressing confidence that the constituency could achieve greater progress through collective effort.

“As we look toward 2027, it is clear that Yagba West deserves representation that listens, leadership that understands, and action that delivers tangible results,” he said.

Akure appealed for the support, prayers and cooperation of the people of Yagba West ahead of the 2027 elections.
