Akinrin Day 2025 Holds June 14

Ekinrin Community National Association (ECNA) has announced the date for this year’s edition of Akinrin Day.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the planning committee, Aribido Shola Samuel, the 2025 Akinrin Day will hold at Akinrin Multipurpose Event Centre, Merijon, Ekinrin-Adde, on June 14, 2025.

Aribido said aside showcasing the community’s rich cultural heritage, ECNA will launch of a groundbreaking 200 million naira infrastructure development project at this year’s edition of Akinrin Day.

He added that the cultural day will also feature the grand finale of the Akinrin Inter-School Debate, featuring talented students from 16 secondary schools in Kabba Bunu and Ijumu.

The statement added that Mr. Ade Ademola will be Chairman of the event, while Mrs Lara Israel will be lady chairperson for the cultural day.

It said His Royal Majesty Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju, Egbo Lona 1, the Akinrin of Ekinrin will be the royal host while Rt. Hon. James Faleke is designated as the distinguished host for the cultural day.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, as the distinguished guest of honour, will headline the cultural event alongside Hon. Wemi Jones, Commissioner for Education; Barrister Ozigi Deedat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Ibrahim Haruna, Executive Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Hon. Salman Idris, member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency and Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba federal constituency.

“This is a momentous occasion to celebrate the spirit of Ekinrin as we embrace our identity, foster community pride, and inspire future generations through education and debate. We look forward to your presence as we honor our heritage and embark on a journey towards development,” the statement added.
