…Soje’s travails might be spiritual attacks and not necessarily due to unpaid salaries
By Joseph Makafan.
Against the allegation that a Director on Grade Level 16, Edward Soje with Kogi State Teaching Service Commission committed suicide based on unpaid salaries, the Administrator of Ogori/Magongo, Hon Moses Akande has advised Kogians against suicide, noting that it is against God’s law.
The Administrator who consoled the deceased’s wife, family, Ogori/Magongo Local Government people, averred that suicide was not the way out for the deceased and many who are presently undergoing depression.
The Administrator who said God frowns at taking of souls in whatever form, noted that suicide does not solve one’s problem but rather compounds it as one goes to everlasting punishment.
Speaking further, he said nearly 15 million adults even in the US suffer from depression and the ailments which necessitate proper care of the body without which suicide is considered.
Akande who said all depressed persons need talk therapy which help to stop negative thoughts and behaviors, urged people undergoing such situation to always associate with well to do people in the society to help them.
He opined that contrary to the report that Soje allegedly committed suicide due to backlog of unpaid salaries, he said he could not reconcile how a man who had just given birth to triplet and was aware that he would be paid six months arrears of salaries could still go ahead to commit suicide.
He maintained that Soje’s travails might be spiritual attacks and not necessarily due to unpaid salaries, pointing out that the deceased ought to have resorted to prayers since spiritual attacks can only be solved spiritually.
