Youths from Kogi West and relevant security stakeholders will on Monday, August 7, gather in Lokoja for a one-day summit to launch the ‘Kogi Must Remain Safe’ campaign.
Speaking to Kogireports on the summit, the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Youth Empowerment (West), Hon. Aiyelabowo Adebanji Austin said the summit is aimed at ensuring that the efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello in youth empowerment and the securing of lives and properties in Kogi State trickle down to the grass root.
Aiyelabowo said his office in partnership with relevant stakeholders who are committed to nation building, youth empowerment and security will, through the summit, create a platform for youth volunteers who will be security ambassadors across Kogi West district. He stressed that security needed for youth empowerment to thrive.
The former House of Assembly candidate informed Kogireports that his team has paid advocacy visits to Kogi State Director of the State Security Service, Commandant of the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW), Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria ahead of the all-important summit. The security chiefs lauded the idea of a robust partnership for youth empowerment through playing voluntary security roles. They made references to the support and motivation their respective commands have been getting from Governor Bello to encourage them to serve well.
Aiyelabowo harped on the need for reorientation among members of road transport union and okada riders association because a large number of their members are youths within the age bracket that is responsible for majority of the crimes committed in the society.
He assure youths from Kogi West of the commitment of the Yahaya Bello-led administration to their welfare and security.
