The President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, again today paid a private visit to Senator Dino Melaye at the National Hospital Abuja, where the latter is recuperating.
This is is coming barely 24 hours after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara alongside his deputy, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Lasun, paid similar visit to the lawmaker in solidarity on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that Saraki had earlier led the whole Senate to visit Melaye on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 after the plenary of same day was suspended in solidarity with the Senator representing Kogi West.
Recall that the both chambers of the National Assembly had separately protested about the manhandling of Melaye by the operatives of the Nigeria Police, leading to the summon of the Inspector-General of the Police, Ibrahim Idris, by the Senate.
Saraki’s visit this Wednesday was described as “personal or private” as he was alone when he came to Melaye’s ward around 5.30pm and left at about 6.30pm.
