Wednesday 31st January, 2019  was the  deadline for  all candidates of the 2019 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to have fully registered for the examination, and Khalif Cares Foundation, a non-governmental charitable organization came through for no fewer than 70 financially handicapped students in Kogi State.

The beneficiaries who went home with the sum of N30,000 each, were drawn from across Senior Secondary Schools in the five Local Government Areas of the Central Senatorial District of the state.

As it has become an annual event  in the Students Financial Assistance Scheme (SFAS) of the Foundation, recall that KCF on February 2nd, 2018 gave similar respite to 60 students who were stranded on the payment of their registration fees.

Addressing the teachers,  2019 beneficiaries and their parents, the Lead Director of the foundation, Comrade Adomu E. Adeiza stated that his team of volunteers were only running the humanitarian errands of the Founder of the Foundation,  Distinguished Khalifa Abdulrahaman Okene whom he extolled as always having a special place in his heart for the betterment of his people.

“Distinguished Khalifa Abdulrahaman Okene has always believed in giving succour to the less privileged, and through several schemes and programmes, he keeps reminding us of his interest in the socio-economic prosperity of his people.  He neither knows nor has any relationship with any of these students, but finds happiness in extending hands of benevolence to the people.

“As a matter of fact, the monitoring and evaluation team of the Foundation handled the selection of the beneficiaries. Even while we were on the field making the payments, we got a call from him directing us to include an orphan whose predicaments were just relayed to him,” Adeiza said.

He advised the students to be good ambassadors of the foundation by taking their academics seriously, and of good conduct in the society.

He revealed that the Foundation will be embarking on more educational reachouts in 2019, as such programmes are already in the offing.

Speaking for the Principals, Raji Momohjimoh of Community Secondary School Ogaminana said; “The first day I received the team members of the foundation was one of my happiest day so far in 2019. That’s because, one of my students here had come with the  father to my office weeping, as their was no way he could register. Myself, I was handicapped and could not do anything. Not quite 10 minutes after they left my office, your team arrived with the good news.

“Just as I prayed that day, I’m declaring it again before God, that as he has remembered the poor, God will continue to remember him,” he said.

Mrs Muritala Habiba who spoke on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries was full of thanksgiving and prayers to the Founder and Team Members of the Foundation.

“I’m extremely happy and grateful for this gesture, because I don’t know him and have never met with him. I pray that the God of these children will continue to bless and shield him in all his endeavors,” she prayed.
