If the news filtering in from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) concerning the House of Representatives seat for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu is anything to go by, a replay of the absurdity witnessed in 2019 is imminent.

For a party still trying to find its feet to make inroads to the political space in the Federal Constituency to engage in blatant imposition with financial consideration as only guide is nothing political harakiri.

In 2019, at a time ADC was relatively unknown, an individual in the person of Prof. J.J Orugun worked assiduously for the ticket of the party only to be sidelined for Mr. S.O. Adeleye.

Curiously just as what is now unfolding, Mr. S.O. Adeleye who failed to secure the ticket of PDP was dubiously and dishonestly ‘dashed’ the ADC ticket based financial inducement of the party leaders who consider Adeleye as the highest bidder at that point in time with the warped argument that he has a bigger ‘war chest’ which eventually cost ADC a colossal defeat at 2019 general elections.

For those blaming Hon. Leke Abejide, they are ignorant of the forces at play.

In 2023, it will definitely be “Deja vu” because factors that favoured ADC in Yagba Federal Constituency are totally absent in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.

Even if Hon. Leke Abejide is not forthcoming on the reasons why his party decided to tow this ignoble and undemocratic part, those with discerning minds can see the “Voice of Jacob, Hand of Esau” scenario playing out. More worrisome is the legal consequence that this will attract.

The ‘godfather’ from Lagos who is an APC member in Lagos but controlling ADC in Kogi, who staged the heist in 2019 is still the same puppeteer pulling the strings from “diaspora” He might think, there will be no payback time as far as Kogi politics is concerned but everything in life has its time and season.

The aspirants who laboured to give ADC the recognition it presently enjoys in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency with their resources and time should not despair as the injustice meted out to them will be avenged at the appropriate time.

What ADC in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency is presently doing should serve as a warning to those with political aspirations in the future that, it is a political party with no consideration for diligence, competence, integrity, and loyalty.

It takes more than being on the ballot by whatever means to win an election as those engaged in the about to be implemented imposition will realize.

The electorate were expecting ADC to be a credible alternative with credible candidates, but unfortunately now sees ADC as an extension of poor-performing PDP and APC.
