The Governor praised the late Afakriya for leaving an indelible mark in the development of Kogi State, adding that the achievements of the former Military Administrator laid the solid foundation of development in the state and remains a source of inspiration for his administration.
“His Excellency, the late Col. Afakriya laid the foundation for the work that we are doing today. We will continue to miss him in Kogi State”, Governor Wada said.
The Governor who prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Col. Afakriya also prayed that God should grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Governor Wada who was accompanied on the visit by Senator Tunde Ogbeha assured the family of the deceased of the support of the government and people of Kogi State at all times.
Speaking on behalf of the family, elder brother of the former Military Administrator, Professor Peter Lassa, said the family is grateful for the support received by the late Afakriya and his family not only during his tenure and after leaving office but until death.
The late Col. Bzigu Lassa Afakriya was the Military Administrator of Kogi State from August 1996 to August 1998.
He died in Abuja on Monday June 22, 2015 after a brief illness.
