The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Plc has secured the conviction of its staff, Bamidele Rasaq, whom the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested in Kogi.
His arrest followed a report of the corps on of 9th May, 2022 after which he was charged where a Chief Magistrate Court sentenced him to one-year imprisonment over his involvement in the vandalism of AEDC installations.
Chief Marketing Officer of AEDC, Mr. Donald Etim, according to a statement of the company, has vowed zero tolerance for vandalism of its network assets irrespective of whether perpetrators of such actions are staff of AEDC or members of the general public.

He assured further that disciplinary measures will take its full course which in this case is outright dismissal and loss of all employee benefits.
He added that vandalism of electricity network infrastructure is a serious offence punishable with a Maximum Sentence of Life Imprisonment under Section 1(9) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act LFN 2004.
