I might sound controversial but the truth must be told. We can not be running away from the ‘Pharaoh’ and go on and assassinate ourselves in the Red Sea of political stupidity. Even the holy books said by their fruits you shall no them. This is the case of Admiral Jibrin Usman.

Kogi state as a polity never lacked government. We only lack the basic rudiments of governance; that is transmission of the basic dividends of democracy to the people. The problem we have at the moment is the Yahaya Bello-led government that fails to transmit the dividends of democracy to the people, hence, the wide spread condemnation of the administration.

Governance, not government, can only be provided by people who are civilian, politically inclined, who understand democratic norms and are administratively minded. The man Usman Jibrin, to me, lack all these vital democratic ingredients based on his militarized background and more worrisome, his recent display of dictatorial and autocratic tendencies in Dekina and other parts of Igala land.

The recent allegation of attack on his person, storming his country home with a battalion of naval forces and issuance of despotic security commands without regards for the rule of law and democratic principles are few examples his early negative signs of undemocratic nature.

Let us be frank, the security challenges been experienced in Igala kingdom is not the duty of a political party aspirant to tackle. It remains the fundamental function of the government of the day. All these ‘political promo’ approach will end up promoting insecurity, hatred and political antagonism in our land.

What will be the future of Dekina and other parts of Igala land when the Admiral and his boys are back to base?

Let’s use our common sense. Let’s reject politicians with ‘political promo’ approach. Good governance is our problem in Kogi state and only a democratically oriented individual can made it happen in the state.

We cannot afford to replace a civilian dictator with a brute militia.
