The Acting National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bashiru Abdul Mohammed, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately discard the David Mark-led faction and recognise Hon. Nafiu Bala as the party’s authentic National Chairman of the party.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television, the party spokesman accused INEC of defying a Court of Appeal order, insisting the commission must “delist and remove” the factional leadership without delay.
He argued that based on the constitution of the party, when a chairman resigns, the deputy takes over. As the deputy national chairman when the erstwhile chairman. Ralph Nwosu, resigned, the spokesman submitted that Bala should be recognized as the authentic national chairman.
He warned that failure to comply would trigger mass protests and possible legal action, including contempt proceedings against the INEC Chairman.
