Oluyemisi Oshaloto, All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for Kogi State House of Assembly, Yagba West Constituency, has congratulated Chief Jide Omokore after he was discharged and acquitted of allegations of fraud and money laundering.
Hon Yemisi, in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday, stated that even though the case was meant to merely distract Chief Omokore who had over the years proved himself as a person of character, she was thankful that the judiciary has done well by showing to the world that the oil magnate committed no wrongdoing.
“Some mischief makers wanted to distort facts with over seven years of legal battle, but the oil magnate and chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Ltd has been freed and truth has prevailed,” Ms Yemisi said.
According to Yemisi, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba was quite right for saying that the issues between the government and Omokore which gave rise to the legal fireworks was merely a matter of “honeymoon which has gone bad”. She therefore advised the government to accord Omokore maximum respect rather than vilify him.
The APC candidate appreciated Chief Jide Omokore for his immense contributions to the growth and development of Okunland and the nation at large.
