The celebrated change achieved in Nigeria today by the populace who decided can as well be attributed to the stalwarts and kingpins of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who humbly sacrificed their pride and sectional interests to make the CHANGE viable. My most celebrated personality amongst others is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The role of this man in the victory of his party can be likened to that of a Kingmaker in a typical cultural Nigeria. Come May 29th, he will surely receive a standing ovation as a down-to-earth political general, motivator, strategic thinker, and risk taker, crusader for change, indomitable opposition leader with an uncommon charisma, humility, prowess and foresight.
No one would need to consult any Ifa Priest to know that Kogi state is a mess and direct replica of the Nigeria we voted to change. Every sector of the state which was ethnically built by Prince Abubakar Audu during his time as a governor has also been ethnically crumbled by his successors.
Time is not a friend to start revealing how the primary school teachers to the university lecturers of the state have suffered; or the current plan to wickedly slash the salaries of the civil servants in the state as a price to pay for the economic crimes they did not commit.
Change in Kogi state would have been best achieved if only Prince Abubakar Audu would swallow his pride and assume the position of “Asiwaju” as a risk taker and general. But, his plans to rule Kogi state for the third time and probably hand it over again to be crumbled by sectional politics driven by tribal marginalization can be likened to a child who moves in a circular form expecting to make it to his destination very quickly.
I am not one of these Nigerian political prophets, but I must profess that the All Progressives Congress in Kogi state can only stand the test of time if it is geared towards a complete change. This CHANGE is not complete if the party defeats the Peoples Democratic Party, but only if the party produces an Ebira/Okun candidate who have been subjected to the whims and caprices of the so praised majority.
By this, it is a sudden disaster for Kogi APC if the expected and supposed soothing balm of the party misses his calling in such a time as this.
With respect and hat-off for Prince Abubakar Audu, he should have a rethink in his position just as Atiku did and be the Bola Tinubu of Kogi state.
