The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has promised renewed commitment to collaborative politics and the strengthening of African Democratic Congress (ADC) structures across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Abejide made this known when he received a courtesy visit from the factional Acting National Chairman of ADC, Comrade Bala Gombe, at his Abuja office.
During the meeting, Abejide commended Comrade Gombe for sustaining the party’s leadership and cohesion at a critical period, describing his stewardship as timely and stabilising. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the acting national chairman and pledged continued support toward rebuilding and protecting the party from elements he described as intent on causing internal division and destruction.
Both leaders stressed the need to consolidate ADC’s structures nationwide, with Abejide assuring the party leadership of his readiness to work with the national executive to deepen the party’s presence and acceptance.
Comrade Gombe, in his remarks, said the visit was part of his ongoing engagements with key stakeholders aimed at repositioning the party. He lauded Abejide for giving ADC visibility and credibility in Kogi State and beyond, noting that his performance, integrity and grassroots impact have drawn national attention to the party.
He described Abejide as the only serving elected member of the House of Representatives on the platform of ADC and a nationally recognised leader of the party.
Speaking extensively on the state of the party’s leadership, the acting chairman maintained that the current national executive under his leadership remains the authentic and legally recognised leadership of the ADC pending the conduct of a proper national convention. He insisted that there were no vacancies in the party’s leadership structure.
Comrade Gombe also disclosed that discussions at the meeting included ongoing court cases against what he termed an illegal national leadership coalition. He expressed confidence that once the cases are concluded, the party would reclaim its national secretariat and immediately organise a credible national convention to usher in fresh executives.
The meeting was attended by several party stakeholders, including Mr. Bode Kayode, Chief of Staff to Hon. Abejide; Hon. Tayo Johnson, ADC Public Relations Officer in Kogi State; Hon. Ashiru Segun; Mr. Femi Modehin; and other critical stakeholders of the party.
The meeting ended with a joint resolve by Abejide and other stakeholders to sustain and strengthen ADC’s structure nationwide, building firmly on what they described as the authentic national leadership of the party under Comrade Bala Gombe, with the aim of expanding the party’s reach across all states and the FCT.
