The member representing Yagba East/West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, on Wednesday, paid glowing tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after the presidential assent to the Amended Electoral Act 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Moments after the signing ceremony, Abejide was seen offering a respectful salutation to the President, whom he described as a father figure, political mentor and leader whose guidance has shaped his public service journey. The gesture, observers noted, reflected deep cultural values of honour, humility and reverence for leadership and elders.

Abejide, widely regarded as a loyal ally and mentee of the President, has consistently expressed admirations for Tinubu’s leadership style and political vision. His public show of respect emphasizes his longstanding personal and political relationship with the President.

The lawmaker also called on political stakeholders across party lines to support the President’s re-election bid, stressing the need for continuity to sustaining the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and advance national development.

He noted that the amended Electoral Act represents another significant step towards strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions and electoral credibility.
