Abandoned Hospital Project: Ijumu Administrator Urges FG to Order Contractor Back to Site

…FG paid over 80% of contract sum but project abandoned for 10 years.
The Administrator of Ijumu local government area, Bashorun Taufiq Isa has called the attention of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to the abandoned general hospital project awarded by Federal Government at Iyara.
In a press statement signed by Taufiq Isa’s media assistant, Suleiman Hussain,the council boss said the contractor abandoned the project ten years ago after payment of eighty percent of the contract sum.
Hon. Taufiq, who was very sad after visiting the project site, called on Governor Bello to assist the people of Ijumu by calling the attention of Federal government to the abandoned hospital project. He urged the Governor to ensure the contractors are ordered to return to site.
“We discovered that the contractor handling the hospital had abandoned the project but I believe they can only run but cannot hide. Governor Bello has warned contractors not to abandon projects in the state, especially a hospital that will serve the interest of everyone,”  he said.
The ALGON boss advised other contractors who have abandoned their project sites without giving value for the money collected to stop taking away what belongs to the generality of the downtrodden.
