This season is bittersweet for me and the entirety of the local government. Just as we celebrate a life well spent by you, we are equally endlessly pained at your untimely departure.
Our beloved Chief, your untimely death was a big blow to us. We are yet to come to terms even 13 years after with the brutal fact that you’re dead; and no more. Thousands of us were thrown into untold agony, tears pains and gloom. You created a vacuum extremely difficult to fill if not impossible.
Your gruesome murder was a challenge difficult for us to handle. You were diligent, visionary, wise, resourceful, matured, fatherly, sacrificial and undiscriminatingly loving. You were indeed nice to a fault.
Your death was a tormenting one! Its ironical that an embodiment of niceness like was hacked down for choosing the part of the emancipation of the down trodden. We could imagine what thought crossed your mind as you vainly sought a window or door of escape. You were hacked down!
We take solace in the fact that your killers could only kill your body but not your dream. We sincerely bless God for favouring you to have impacted many lives positively. Today, we can freely talk, walk and live anywhere because you took the right decisions and paid the ultimate price. Continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord till the resurrection morning when we shall see face to face. Chief, u were indeed great.
Continue to rest in the bosom of the lord.
We shall meet to part no more.
