‘Bro, can you imagine! A Nigerian politician just stated that he is not fit for nollywood role?’ Sam said to me.
What man said what, and why? I need you to calm down as i let you all in on a bit of laughable issues.
I think that if there’s ever a need to have a replica of the Nigerian Nollywood sector, the many characters that constitute the Nigerian political sphere would make up for a worthy competitor. If you have only been here for a decade, you would have heard or read about some blockbuster scripts written and played by our darling politicians. Trust me, some of those scripts raked in millions.
Recall that somewhere in the Middle Belt, a certain man with a body weight above 80kg found refuge on a tree top for eleven hours. Shortly after, he fainted during a court session. Rhetorically, he had the vigour to live alongside squirrels on a tree top for eleven hours but lacked the energy for a court session.
How about the snake that swallowed up several millions? An FCT licensed snake did that. I feel laughingly sad for the poor millions of naira which was constricted by the snkae and swallowed up without regard to the many agencies situated in the FCT. If you think that even the Bollywood with all her known filming tricks can match the mystery of the Nigerian politician’s snake, I urge you to think again.
Talk about a scene that typifies forgiveness? Somewhere in the heart of Kogi, a renowned political gladiator knelt down pleadingly. All he asked for was that, with or without ‘tatata’, the lion be allowed to redo an assignment. After all, according to Mama Peace, a man who fails an exam should be allowed to write again.
I have watched RMD kneel for the sake of love in a movie. But watching that political gladiator kneel for Kogites was nothing short of pristine acting. Talk about solidarity towards bereaved members; the Nigerian politicians have been able to outmatch whatever Nollywood is offering.
I suppose that it was in this show of class that a few past governors and one-time Aso Rock tenant decided to talk about what is unfair and what is fair.
What is unfair? The APC.
What is fair? They…
Remember that timeless Pefti TV show named ‘Toyin Tomato’? Those politicians remind me of Suara. In that show, Suara acted the role of a man who rose from penury into something through the kindness of Toyin. However, he found his way back penury. I remembered feeling sorry for that fine man.
I was only a child back then. I didn’t look at the other side of the story. Suara had his moment, but he chose to waste it or that he simply chose not to care. When these men talk ill of APC, I prefer they also talk about how they took part in giving birth to something long.
While it is true that Suara provided a classic example of a man who made a wrong choice, I refuse to partake in his suffering. Therefore, I do not blame him. Instead, I have chosen not to tow his path. In conclusion, I think it is wisdom to let the brutal words of criticism sink in – you know how they say it: take the message and ignore the messenger. Afterall, he said he is not a member of the Nollywood.
