Salary accumulation in Kogi State is no longer news. With lots of publications circulating the internet, ranging from persuasion to criticisms. The Government is very much aware of the pains and groans of her citizens.
On December 2nd 2017, a report on salary payment went viral on almost every news portal in the country.
The statement was made by Mr. Mumuni Okara, the special adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He made a promise at the commemoration of the 110th birthday of the Odeyani-Anebira, Alhaji Audu Otonoku and his eight years on the throne as the Otonoku in Lokoja. “As from January next year, we shall be paying all our cleared civil servants salaries as and when due. “I want to appreciate God that good days are coming to the people of Kogi,” Mumuni said.

The people are expectant for the government to fulfill what has been promised. Mr. Mumuni during his speech, claimed that over 2,000 workers in the state were with fake certificates, as at when the incumbent administration assumed office. He also mentioned that the Governor has directed him, to source for the 30 billion Naira, needed to clear the outstanding salaries and arrears debt in the state.
A government with self-acclaimed integrity and deep concern for her citizens, shouldn’t let her words fall to the ground. Millions are watching to see this promise been fulfilled and as at now, there is just 15 days left to make everyone happy and for Bello to be applauded.
