On the 11th day of March 2024, the entire people of Okunland and indeed, members Okun Parapo were plunged into mourning as they bid farewell to one of their most esteemed leaders and patron, Chief Joseph Olanrewaju Owoeye.
Fondly referred to as Baba, Chief Owoeye was a pillar of strength and wisdom to the group, and his demise has left a void that will be difficult to fill.
Baba Owoeye was not only a highly respected chief in Okunland but also a beloved father, mentor, and friend to many. His dedication to the well-being of humanity was evident in his selfless service and unwavering commitment to fostering unity and progress among the people. His words of wisdom and guidance were sought after by individuals of all ages, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Baba was a dogged fighter/advocate of power rotation in Kogi state. He was a front line member of the Audu/Faleke political family. He massively deployed his time, energy and resources in the struggle for the validation of the 2015 Kogi state gubernatorial election the entire World knew to have been overwhelmingly won by the ticket of the late Prince Abubakar Audu and Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.
As Okun Parapo, Okunland and indeed the people of Kogi State gathers to mourn the loss of Chief Joseph Olanrewaju Owoeye, they do so with heavy hearts but also with a deep sense of gratitude for the legacy he leaves behind. His integrity, kindness, and generosity have left an indelible mark on the land and people, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide future generations.
In this time of sorrow, members of Okun Parapo find solace in the knowledge that Chief Owoeye’s spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people he touched. His legacy of unity, compassion, and service will continue to be a beacon of light for us, guiding us through the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead.
Continue to rest in perfect peace at the bosom of Lord Baba.
